Created in 1991, the Institut Universitaire Professionnalisé "Management and Business Administration" is a component of the University of Clermont Auvergne-1 
IUP hosts about 1300 students in France or abroad. Its first feature is the professionalization and its multidisciplinary training, half of the courses are taught by professionals. IUP has developed an extensive network of partner companies that operate not only in the recruitment and training processes but also by hosting professional students for placement periods ranging from 6 weeks to 6 months every year or for consultancy projects. Professionalization is also reflected in the fact that the students of the 2 specialties of MASTER 2 (2nd year) and the 4 specialties of LICENCE PROFESSIONNELLE have the opportunity to conduct their studies within the framework of an apprenticeship, a professional contract or a sandwich course. For MASTER 1 (1st year) professional contract or sandwich courses are possible. A second major feature of the IUP Clermont-Ferrand is its awareness of international markets. All students have to complete a 4-month placement abroad during their studies (internship or university course). The IUP has signed numerous agreements with foreign universities but also with companies in those countries. In order to strengthen its international orientation, as well as its training offer to individuals and businesses IUP, in 2002, created its own platform for distance learning through video conference. A third major characteristic and probably the most important one is the immediate employability of the graduates. 80% of students find a job within one month of finishing their studies; half of them are hired by the company in which they have performed their placement. Within 3 months 100% of students have found a job.
